Yoga in Mindo, Ecuador

We are a small and attentive Ashtanga Yoga Shala, just outside of charming mountain town of Mindo, Ecuador, the adventure gateway to the lush cloudforest on the western Andean Slope just 2 hours west from Quito.

Our property is located at the end of the road and included in the recently designated Unesco Protected Biosphere, 1100 sq miles (1700 sq kil) of pristine unroaded Forest. There just aren’t many places like this left in the world, and a truly special place to practice yoga!

We teach traditional Ashtanga yoga, beginner to advanced, all are welcome. Enjoy our unique morning yoga/hiking packages, starting the day with one-on-one private yoga instruction.

We work with each student individually, giving tips and correction as needed. You are going to learn some really cool stuff.

After yoga, enjoy a tropical fruit smoothie and a hike through the forest.

When yoga practice is finished, we nourish with a delicious and satisfying organic, fresh picked tropical fruit smoothie.  Eat bright!

Afterwards we take an inspiring hike on our spectacular hand built private trails in untouched cloud forest. You will pass natural springs, tropical birds, HUGE trees, beautiful waterfalls and great views from the top of mountain. It’s a challenging hike good for all levels. Please wear appropriate shoes and clothes, long pants, socks and sleeves.

Assisting a student at a morning yoga session in Mindo.

“I spent the Christmas holidays with my family in the town of Mindo and joined Wendy’s yoga class in the mornings. I’m an experienced Ashtanga practitioner living in Ecuador and I haven’t had a teacher in about 10 years. I loved Wendy’s insights and descriptions of postures and Ashtanga principals. I appreciated the fact that she saw that I was an experienced yogini and allowed me the space to practice at my level. She very adeptly dealt with a wide range of levels among students. Her assists were amazing and she had me doing postures I hadn’t done since before having kids (Marichyasana D) and which I have continued to be able to do since I returned home. Everyone can learn a ton from Wendy, whether a beginner or an experienced practitioner. I recommend a stay at her place, but if it isn’t possible, joining the morning yoga classes is a must for any seasoned yoga practitioner traveling through Mindo. I hope to return to Mindo to practice with Wendy sometime soon!
